In Order To Know Who He Is, You Must Know Who You Are Not

Updated: September 9, 2025

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

There is a constant battle between the carnal flesh of man and the Spirit of God. Our pride and God's throne cannot abide together. It is impossible to give all the glory and honor to the Lord when we think that our accomplishments were reached because of our own power. Anything good in our lives is a product of the goodness of God. He is the one who gives us all of our abilities, opportunities and possessions. Without God leading us, we can not make it through the situations of life. Our thoughts and ways of doing things will always fail.

Pride will stop us from truly repenting and letting go of the things that do not please God at the altar. Sincere repentance leads to lasting change. The Lord can do the things that we are not able to. In order to overcome hardships, we must realize how weak and incomplete we are compared to the greatness of God. Knowing how much we need him will bring us through any problem. The Lord sees our struggles and how to solve them, but he wants to know that we can give him praise in the middle of the fire before he gets involved and turns everything completely around.
